THE ANALYSIS OF INTRINSIC ELEMENTS IN THE SHORT STORY “FI LAILAH AL-‘IID” BY MUSTHOFA LUTHFI AL-MANFALUTHI (ROBERT STANTON’S STRUCTURALISM THEORY)

This study aims to analyse the short story “Fi Lailah al-Iid”, focusing on the key elements of Robert Stanton’s structuralism theory. This short story is significant for revealing its essential elements, as it contains complex narratives that become compelling when analysed using the structuralistm theory developed by Robert Stanton; amongst these is the story of the mother, characterised by her deep affection for her son. Because of her deep love for her son, she went so far as to steal a toy from a toy shop so that her son could feel happy on Eid night. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, in which the researcher serves as the primary instrument for describing and portraying the subject matter, characters, plot, setting and point of view found in Al-Manfaluti’s short story “Fi Lailah al-Iid”. The research design is descriptive, and the data collection technique used is literary analysis. The findings of the research on the analysis of the essential elements in this short story are the core elements that reveal the story’s truths in the short story “Fi Lailah al-Iid”, and include the two main elements: (1) The story’s truth, which comprises: the plot, the characters, the setting and the theme; (2) The narrative devices, which include: the title, point of view, style as well as tone, symbolism, and irony. All of these are interrelated, as is the case in Robert Stanton’s structuralism theory.
