Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the literacy skills of writing observation report texts through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in class X students of MA. Sirajul Ulum. The low ability of students in writing observation report texts is the background of this research. PBL was chosen because this method encourages students to learn actively through solving problems related to real situations. This research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 30 students. Data were obtained through observation, writing tests, and interviews. The results showed that the application of PBL significantly improved students’ ability to write observation report texts. In the first cycle, the average student score increased from 65 to 75, and in the second cycle to 85. In addition, students were more active and motivated in the learning process. Thus, the PBL method is effective in improving the literacy of writing observation report texts in students.
