Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the speaking problems and difficulties encountered by students at MAN 1 Probolinggo and to identify their sources. In order to communicate with other people around the world, it is very necessary to speak in English. Foreign speakers often experience problems speaking English fluently. Second language learners have experienced various situations to improve their ability to speak correctly, not only using the right vocabulary and grammar, but also using the right accent and pronunciation. As a result, a large number of barriers have been identified as predictors of such problems among language learners. A review of the literature shows that teaching proper speaking is considered to be of utmost importance to students and requires additional attention. In this paper, the author emphasises the speaking problems and difficulties faced by MAN 1 Probolinggo students. These problems include anxiety, lack of motivation, lack of confidence, anxiety, lack of confidence, and fear of being wrong. In the context of English language teaching and learning, this paper can be useful for teachers.
