Abstract

English language learning in boarding schools has unique challenges that need to be analyzed to improve its effectiveness. This research aims to identify the main problems faced in boarding school-based English learning, including lack of resources, inappropriate teaching methods, and low student motivation. The research method used is qualitative with interviews and observations. The results of the analysis show that many santri find it difficult to understand the material due to the non-contextualized teaching approach and limited speaking practice. In addition, cultural factors and values upheld in the boarding school also affect the way English is learned. This study recommends the development of a more adaptive curriculum and the use of interactive learning methods to improve santri's English skills.
