Abstract

In general, this study aims to better understand the influence of the PBL learning model on students' mathematical thinking skills and level of learning independence. The specific objectives of this study are as follows: 1. To determine the extent to which the PBL learning model affects the mathematical reasoning skills and learning independence of class XI MA Walisongo students. 2. To determine the positive and significant influence of the application of the PBL learning model on students' learning independence and mathematical reasoning skills. Based on the results of the research discussion, the average pretest score of the PBL class was 59.00, while the control group was 56.83. After the learning changes were made, the average posttest score of the control class (conventional) students was 70.1 and the experimental class (PBL) was 83.3. The results of the hypothesis test showed that t count = 6.151 was obtained at a significance level = 0.05 and t table = 2.042. H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted if t count > t table or 6.151 > 2.042 by comparing t count and t table. Based on the results of the research that has been conducted, it can be said that PBL-based learning at MA Walisongo has a significant influence on students' thinking skills and degree of learning independence.
